  1. Hi assume this is only for dc voltage? But in all honesty I have not got a clue. I have only ever worked with DC voltage before. I am trying to find a regulated circuit design for a 9vac output from a 9vac Toroidal coil between 3-4 amp. The draw should only be 2.4-2.6amp but always like to build things tougher than needed. If all regulators like this one only go to 1.8amp , am I right in thinking that two could be used in a parallel configuration for 3.6Amp? Or are they available in larger capacities. And would the values or types of the capacitors change in value because of the higher amperage ? Sorry I have very little knowledge of electronics, but eager to learn new skills.

    1. Yes only for dc.
      So you need 110/230V to 9V ac?
      Interesting. So high current also, so you need beefy toroid to make it.

      Or a simple iron transformer with proper coils on each side. You should find guide how to do it in google by searching “iron heart transformer” and “transformer coil winding calculator”

    1. Just use the 12v version in parallel for 12V output. But remember that lm7012 can heat up easily, use aluminium plate to dissipate heat

  3. how can i calcuLATE THE VALUES OF THE CAPACITORS? why there is the need of capacitors? what happens if i don’t use those capacitors in this circuit?

    1. yes but step down converter would be better. Linear regulators waste all the energy as heat. if you use lm7805 it will heat up and its not efficient. Search on ebay buck step down converter.
